However, the wickets kept falling in the opening session of Day 4 with England’s scoreboard reading 194/6 after 42.4 overs at Lunch. But with the proceedings in the middle, former England captain Kevin Pietersen, who was part of the commentary panel early in the day, slammed the Indian skipper.

Pietersen slammed Sharma for being too defensive. The 43-year-old cricketer turned commentator questioned why is “long on back?” while question Sharma’s captaincy. “Look at Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Why is long on back? Why is long-off back? Why is he so defensive straight away when England need above 300? He should keep Rehan Ahmed on strike. He should have been out on the first ball of the day,” he said.  However, soon after Pietersen’s comments, Rehan Ahmed was caught leg-before wicket by Axar Patel for 23.
