T20 cricket great Kieron Pollard helped MI New York qualify for the playoffs in Major League Cricket 2024 by beating the Los Angeles Knight Riders by four wickets. As Pollard showed off his brilliant batting skills, one of his maximums, unfortunately, went to hit a MINY fan in the crowd.
In the 15th over, chasing a 131-run total, Kieron Pollard was facing Australian pacer Spencer Johnson and took a single on the first ball before coming back on strike for the last four balls of the over. Pollard hit a six on the third ball of the over straight back over the bowler's head, then the next ball saw a massive maximum over square leg. The fifth delivery was also launched for a six into the mid-wicket stand which hit a fan over the boundary line.

After the match, Pollard, along with Nicholas Pooran went out to interact with the fan and comforted her, then even apologized for the shot. The West Indian great then took a selfie with the fan and her partner. The MI NY duo also presented the supporter with a signed jersey and even asked her husband to take care of her saying, "Do what a man needs to do", before shaking hands.
Very relieved, congrats to the entire team: Kieron Pollard
Speaking about this win, Kieron Pollard said, "Very relieved, congrats to the entire team. The way we fought, everyone chipped in usefully. If we look at the history of how we've batted, 130 was a tough ask. But we got another opportunity, the attitude shown by everyone was fantastic."
"I've had some experience, Nosthush came to me after one game and said that things will turn out good, my family was always backing me, coming from a young player, it meant a lot. I always pride myself on performing for the franchise and I'm glad it came off today," he added.
