Southern Brave veteran Kieron Pollard hit a monstrous six off Haris Rauf delivery in The Hundred 2024, leaving commentators scared. Pollard’s six against the Welsh Fire in the game in Cardiff on Monday, August 5, gave the commentators a major scare. Pollard, known for his destructive batting and thundering boundaries, came in to bat at five, after the top order managed to cross the 100-run mark in 75 deliveries in the first innings.
During the 84th delivery of the first innings of the game, Welsh Fire bowler Haris Rauf delivered a short-length ball that went up to Kieron Pollard’s chest height. Pollard attempted to pull it but didn’t get a proper hold of it. The ball carried over the ropes due to its fast pace and hit the commentary box, where former cricketers including Robert Croft and Kumar Sangakkara were seated.
The Englishman who didn’t see the ball coming towards him got scared, while others shared a laugh. He said, "I was trying to do it, you are supposed to do it. Look at the screen. Could have given me a shout guys.” In the game, Pollard hit one more six and ended up with 17 runs off 12 deliveries. His knock helped the Braves post 139 runs with the loss of five wickets in 100 deliveries.
The game saw the Southern Brave emerge victorious by a 42-run margin as their rivals failed to chase the target. Among all the batters of Welsh Fire, only David Willey could manage to cross the 20-run mark.
