Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Vaibhav Arora got a hero-like welcome when he arrived his hometown Ambala after winning his first Indian Premier League (IPL). The Shreyas Iyer-led side defeated SunRisers Hyderabad in the finale of the IPL 2024 to lift their third title on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After the victory, when he reached his hometown, Arora received a grand reception.
In the final clash, Arora took the charge of the new ball and dismissed the dangerous Travis Head with his brilliant out-swinger. In 10 matches that he played for the side, the youngster scalped 11 wickets at an average of 25.09 and economy of 8.24. The video of Arora’s welcome went viral on social media, where the cricketer was greeted with garlands and confetti.
Not only this, but fans around him cheered “KKR..KKR” and surrounded him for pictures and autographs. Notably, the 26-year-old was roped in by KKR in 2021 but was released after a season. The youngster rejoined the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned franchise ahead of the 2023 season. Arora had a successful campaign in the IPL 2024, where he partnered with Mitchell Starc and picked some of the most crucial wickets for the side.
Arora’s first game came against Delhi Capitals, where he took a three-wicket haul, including that of the DC skipper, Rishabh Pant. In the game against CSK, Arora came up with a two-wicket haul. Throughout the season, Arora received a lot of praise from experts and commentators for his ability to swing the ball.
