Los Angeles Lakers’ icon LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, scripted history on Tuesday, by becoming the first father-son duo to play together in the NBA. Notably, the Lakers locked horns with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Crypto.com Arena in their season opener. LeBron and Bronny checked into the game together when four minutes were left in the second quarter, and created history as they stepped onto the court, amid an ovation from the home crowd. 

LeBron had already started the game and played 13 minutes before he teamed up with his elder one to register another historic record. LeBron, the all-time NBA scorer, and his 20-year-old son, joined the likes of several legends in a small club of father-son professional athletes to have played together. 34 years ago, Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. scripted history when they played their first game together on September 14, 1990 in the MLB. 

Los Angeles Lakers win first season opener since 2016

The Los Angeles Lakers won their first season opener since 2016 as they took down their counterparts 110-103. The game saw the Lakers being outscored 7-2 in their first shift together with Bronny missing an open 3 while getting blocked by Rudy Gobert. The youngsters didn’t return to the game after playing the game, while his dad, LeBron, ended up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. 

Bronny, on the other hand, finished with 17 points on 7-for-17 shooting with 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Before the game, Lakers coach JJ Redick expressed his excitement to be a part of the historic occasion of LeBron and Bronny playing together. He said, "We had a couple conversations around it. I think everybody is on the same page. We want it to sort of make sense and we want it to happen naturally and in the flow of a game."
