Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola came up with a blunt gesture for the Liverpool fans after they were chanting against him following City’s 0-2 loss against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, December 1. This was Manchester City’s sixth loss from the last seven matches across all competitions in the ongoing season. The Liverpool fans were trolling Pep Guardiola with the chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" towards the end of the match.
However, Pep Guardoila kept his cool and held up six fingers to the fans indicating that Manchester City have won six Premier League titles under his coaching. Notably, Manchester City lost their fourth consecutive match in the ongoing Premier League 2024-25. They haven’t been able to win single game from the last seven matches, with one game ending in a draw.
Watch Pep Guardiola respond to Liverpool fans' comments:
Maybe I deserve to be sacked: Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has recently extended his contract as a manager of Manchester City. However, the former Spanish footballer also believes that he should be sacked from the role following City’s poor form in the ongoing season. “Maybe I deserve to be sacked, honestly, with our results, or maybe I’m still in the job because I won six Premier Leagues and a lot of titles,” Guardoila was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Further speaking on teh chants after City's loss, Pep said, "But I didn’t expect them to sing at 0-2. Maybe they should sing at 0-1 when the game was tighter or maybe last season or the previous season. Maybe in Brighton they did it, so I understand, but at Anfield I didn’t expect it. But it’s fine. It’s part of the game. When you win, you laugh, when you lose, they laugh. I have to accept it.”
