An MMA bout in Germany was brought to an end after a nasty injury took place during the fight. The Oktagon 44 event took place at the Rudolf Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, on June 17, Saturday. During the third round of Mateusz Strzelczyk and Rafael Xavier main card bout, both fighters exchanged hard leg kicks simultaneously. The kicks were so powerful that resulted in a sickening incident, and Strzelczyk ended up breaking his leg.
Mateusz had endured a massive beatdown over the course of two and half rounds before he lifted his leg to land a front kick on Xavier. However, the latter simultaneously launched a few kicks on his opponent. The Brazilian MMA fighter’s knee smacked into the shinbone of his opponent and a popping sound was noticed when the Polish MMA fighter attempted to move back. His shinbone snapped in half and Mateusz fell onto the mat.

Xavier immediately realised what had just happened and put his both hands on his head in shock and disbelief as he turned away and the referee rushed in to stop the bout. After the injury, the 32-year-old Polish fighter was awarded the victory at 2:47 of the third round. Strzelczyk’s three-fight winning streak came to an end in a devastating way. However, it will be seen how soon Mateusz makes his return to the cage. Needless to say, the MMA star will have to cover a long road to recovery and his career can be in some big doubts.
