Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni celebrated his 14th wedding anniversary with his wife Sakshi on Thursday, July 4. The two-time World Cup-winning captain cut the cake and celebrated another year of his and Sakshi’s marital life. Notably, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on July 4, 2010, in Dehradun. The wedding came as a surprise to even some of his teammates and was held at Vishranti Resort, Dehradun.
The fan club of Dhoni's IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, shared a video of the couple cutting a cake. The video was captioned, “Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary MS Dhoni and Sakshi.” Not only this, but Sakshi also took to Instagram to share a heartwarming collage of several pictures of Dhoni. The collage she shared shows them dancing together as well as posing for the camera. She captioned the post, " Starting our 15th year !"
Notably, a few years in 2015, the couple welcomed their daughter, Ziva Dhoni. The 43-year-old cricketer met Sakshi Singh Dhoni (then Sakshi Rawat) in 2007 when she was interning at the Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata. However, several reports suggest that the couple knew each other since childhood and attended the same school.
Talking about his career, Dhoni brought the curtains down on his international career on August 15, 2020. However, the cricketer continued to play for his IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, which led to five laurels in the cash-rich league. Speculations are rife that the cricketer may have made his final appearance in 2024 due to injury concerns. Ahead of the latest season, the former CSK skipper passed over the captaincy baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
