In the mid-innings interview, Varma talked about his approach towards the game as wickets were falling all around him. He stated that he wanted to settle in and play big shots as the innings progresses. He said, "My plan was to adjust to the wicket and see how it was doing. It was holding a bit. So, I took my time initially and then see how it goes. My mindset was positive and I was constantly talking to my partners and asking them what a good score would be"
The 20-year-old from Hyderabad also spoke about how the ball was holding up a bit when the spinners were in action. Tilak Varma said, "The ball from the spinners was holding up a bit. So, they were a little tough as compared to the pacers."
