Murugan Ashwin, the premier leg-spinner for Siechem Madurai Panthers, flew in the air to take a sensational catch at the NPR College Ground, on June 18, Sunday. The moment happened during the 8th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, which was won by Dindigul Dragons with a convincing margin of seven wickets with 35 balls remaining.
For the unversed, it was the captain of Dindigul Dragons, the star Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who won the toss and put Siechem Madurai Panthers into bat first. His decision was proven correct as Sarvana Kumar got the opener S Karthik out in the first over of the innings. Then, Hari Nishaanth and Jagatheesan Kousik stitched together a 56-run partnership for the second wicket.
But the batting innings of Siechem Madurai Panthers fell away in the second half as they were bundled out for 123 runs with three balls unused. Saravana Kumar and Suboth Bhati picked up three wickets each for Dindigul Dragons, while their captain Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with one scalp.
In the run chase, Dindigul Dragons had a tough start as they lost their first three wickets inside four overs. When Murugan Ashwin took the great catch to dismiss S Arun off the bowling of Gurjapneet Singh, Siechem Madurai Panthers were in the ascendency at the NPR College Ground.

Baba Indrajith, though, came out to bat in the powerplay for Dindigul Dragons to take the game by the scruff of the neck. He smashed seven fours and four maximums in an enterprising innings of 78 runs off 47 deliveries. The 28-year-old cricketer also made a 92-run partnership with Adithya Ganesh, to help his side defeat Siechem Madurai Panthers in a comfortable manner.
