Kolkata Knight Riders are locking horns with Lucknow Super Giants in the second last doubleheader of IPL 2023. With the two playoffs berths still up for grabs, sic teams are still in contention to take the two spots. Earlier at the start of the match, Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and invited the Krunal Pandya-led side to bat first.

While the visitors lost wickets in crucial intervals, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran was the only player to reach the 50-run mark in the LSG inning. The West Indies batter reached his second fifty of the season off just 28 deliveries but was soon dismissed by Shardul Thakur in the same over.
On the first delivery of the 19 th over, Pooran smashed a full toss outside off for a 74m maximum to get to a 50. He took a moment to celebrate this by blowing a kiss. The batter again smashed a six on the very next delivery before falling off Shardul Thakur’s third delivery of the over.

Earlier during the day, Chennai Super Kings became the second team to confirm a playoffs berth after Gujarat Titans. However, whether they will remain at the second place or move to third will be decided after the match between KKR and LSG as if LSG wins they move to the second spot with Chennai dropping to third place.
