The Big Bash League 2023-24 is close to reaching its penultimate stage with table-toppers Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers already reaching the playoffs. With two more places up for grabs in the BBL 2023-24 stage for the playoffs, the 35th match of the tournament, which was played between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers saw a bizarre incident where the batter survived a close call.
After opting to bat first, the Aaron Hardie-led Perth Scorchers posted 163/6 in their 20 overs with Nick Hobson scoring unbeaten 48 off 30 deliveries. However, batting at the score of 47, Hobson survived a wicket as the ball crashed into the stumps, but the bails luckily didn’t come off, giving him a lifeline.

Defending a total of 163 runs, the Perth Scorchers registered a comfortable win by 35 runs. They restricted the Heat to 128 in 19.5 overs, handing them their first loss of the season. Moreover, with this win, the Aaron Hardie-led side jumped to the second place, securing their playoffs qualification in the ongoing season of the T20 tournament.
