During the final set of the pulsating Wimbledon 2023 men’s singles final, Novak Djokovic smashed the racket into the net post, after losing his serve against Carlos Alcaraz. It led to the Serbian world number two visibly injuring his hand, while the crowd at SW19 were not hesitant to give him an earful either.
The moment occurred in the third game of the deciding set, when Novak Djokovic was in midst of a tough game of serve. While 30-40 down at the Center Court, the Serbian found his first serve, but he couldn’t stop Carlos Alcaraz from achieving a break, after a stunning backhand winner down the line.

At the very end, the world number one tennis player Carlos Alcaraz managed to beat Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to win his first Wimbledon title on July 16, Sunday. With this epic victory, the 20-year-old became the 3rd Spanish player after Rafael Nadal and Manuel Santana to lay his hands on the coveted crown.
In the post-match interview on the Center Court at SW19, the new Wimbledon champion was quoted as saying, “Well, it’s a dream come true for me. As I said before, it's great to win you know, but even if I would have lost, you know, I could be really proud of myself you know, in this amazing ground, you know, making history in this beautiful tournament, you know, playing a final against a legend of our sport, for me, it’s incredible.”
“For a boy, you know, 20-years-old, I didn’t expect to reach, you know, this kind of situations really fast. I am really really proud of (thunderous applause at the Center Court erupts), yeah, I am really proud of myself. I am really proud (of) the team that I have, the work we put (in) everyday, to be able to lift this brilliance,” remarked Alcaraz.
