In the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are facing the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 2 April, 2025. After winning the toss, GT decided to field first giving RCB a chance to put up a big score on the board in the first innings. However, the first innings has not gone as planned for RCB as they have only managed to score 169 in 20 overs, which seems to be a chasable target in the Bangalore stadium. However, an emphatic moment from the first innings was a big six smashed by RCB’s Phil Salt.

English batter Phil Salt smashed a 105m six to Mohammed Siraj in the fifth over of the first innings. The six is the joint-biggest boundary of this IPL season alongside Travis Head’s powerful stroke in a previous match. While the big six was a moment to cheer for the RCB crowd, the batter was castled by Mohammed Siraj on the very next delivery, giving a fitting reply to the big stroke.

Summary of RCB’s first innings against GT in IPL 2025

In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between RCB and GT, RCB posted a total of 169 for 8 in their 20 overs. The innings was marked by early setbacks, with RCB losing three wickets during the powerplay, reaching 35 for 3 in the first five overs. Liam Livingstone played a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings, scoring 54 runs off 40 balls. He formed a crucial 52-run partnership with Jitesh Sharma, who contributed 22 runs. Tim David also added a quick 32 runs towards the end.

For GT, Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler, delivering an impressive spell of three wickets for 19 runs in his four overs. His performance was instrumental in restricting RCB to a modest total. It will be interesting to see whether RCB can now defend this total to get their third consecutive win of this season.
