Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw, 25, who hasn’t played for the national team in the last three years, was spotted shaking a leg at a dance party with his friends, seemingly having the time of his life. After the video of the dance party went viral on the social media platform X, Prithvi Shaw faced a massive backlash from the fans, who were far from pleased about his latest exploits off the field, with some of them calling him the second coming of former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli.
Notably, in the last couple of years in the IPL, Prithvi Shaw’s game has steadily deteriorated, with him scoring just 304 runs at an average of 19 in his 16 appearances for Delhi Capitals, while his strike-rate went from his high standards of the past. With such diminishing returns, it will be interesting to see if an IPL franchise looks to invest in him in the upcoming mega auction for the 2025 season.

Moreover, during all this time, Prithvi Shaw was picked in Mumbai’s probable 28-member squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 tournament. But still, the right-handed batter is not a sure shot pick in the final Mumbai squad for the SMAT, not only due to the lack of scores, but also the pressure on the selectors from the fans to address his latest off-field exploits.
The SMAT 2024 is set to commence on November 23 with Mumbai opening match happening against Goa in Hyderabad.
