India took on New Zealand in the final T20I of the three-match series on Wednesday (1 February). Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first on what looked to be a challenging surface. New Zealand, meanwhile, kept India quiet for a couple of overs and also got rid of Ishan Kishan. Michael Bracewell trapped the batter LBW to draw the first blood. With Kishan’s departure out came Rahul Tripathi.

As usual, the batter started playing his shots straight away. Tripathi got a couple of reprieves as his aerial shots landed in the no man’s land. However, with Shubman Gill wreaking havoc in the middle, Tripathi also got his act together and played some really good-looking shots. One of his shots was so good that the commentators were left in awe of the batter’s pyrotechnics.
Tripathi played a paddle scoop for a six against New Zealand’s fastest bowler, Lockie Ferguson. On the third delivery of the sixth over, Ferguson bowled a full ball which the batter nonchalantly deposited into the fine leg stand.

The batter continued to take the New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners as he raced to 44 off just 21 balls. But as Tripathi tried to get to his maiden half-century in style, he was caught at fine leg.
