During the mid innings break in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match between England and Australia, Rashid Khan surprised fans by using two balls to practise his bowling action. On Sunday, October 15, after getting invited into bat first by the English captain Jos Buttler, Afghanistan managed to put a decent score of 284 on the board, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The batting innings for the Afghans started on a bright note, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran stitching together a 114-run opening stand. Adil Rashid picked up the first wicket for England, getting rid of Ibrahim Zadran for 28 off 48, before scalping for Rahmat Shah for 3 off 8, to bring his team back into the contest.
Shortly afterward, the run out of the high flying Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored 80 off 57, with eight fours and four maximums, put Afghanistan on the backfoot. Ikram Alikhil, the wicketkeeper, who was drafted into the side, took the responsibility in the second half of the innings, bringing up a fifty, to help propel their total to 284 all out.

Before going out to defend the 284-run total against England, the bowlers of Afghanistan were getting their final practice in, wherein Rashid Khan was spotted bowling with two balls. He is expected to play a key role for the Afghans in their bid to pull off the first major upset of the ODI World Cup 2023 against the English cricket team.
