India are taking on England in the third Test of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. However, the Men in Blue posted 445 runs on the board after opting to bat first, the Ben Stokes-led side added 207 runs on their scoreboard to cut short the trail to 238 runs at Stumps on Day 2.
However, Sarfaraz Khan’s debut stole the limelight on Day 1 of the ongoing Test, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri got into news for all the wrong reasons. The 61-year-old, who was part of the commentary panel when the 26-year-old was in the middle, made a huge blunder as he called Sarfaraz Khan’s wife as his mother.
“His father, his mother watching the young man bat,” Shastri can be heard saying in videos going viral on social media.

Ravi Shastri & Graeme Swann go “bonkers” on Sarfaraz’s number
Sarfaraz Khan walked into bat at number 5 after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal. As he stood firm in the middle with Ravindra Jadeja, the discussion in the commentary panel moved to the Mumbai batter, highlighting his numbers. As the Indian batter’s numbers popped up, former England cricketer Graeme Swann was left in awe.
“This lad has been making a lot of runs, make no mistake about it. Look at that, an average of 154. Phew. Some of those numbers are absolutely bonkers,” Swann said. Moreover, former India head coach also chipped in at this moment as he said, “He’s been banging at the door for sometime no. Literally waiting for the selectors to look at those scores and give him an entry, which he has got.”
