The T20I series between India women and England women got off to a sizzling start as Indian seamer Renuka Singh Thakur picked up two back-to-back wickets as she cleaned up English opener Sophia Dunkley and number three batter Alice Capsey. Bowling the first over of the game, Singh kept both openers quiet as she conceded two runs from the first three balls.
For the fourth ball, Thakur sent out a length delivery outside off-stump which took an inside edge and ricocheted onto the stumps. Then the fifth delivery, Renuka Singh Thakur showed off her magical swing as the ball drifted in and then straightened up to blast away Alice Capsey's off-stump.

Renka Singh's first over was something the Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur wanted. Ahead of the match, the Indian team won the toss and elected to bowl first, Kaur spoke about putting the English team under early pressure. Further speaking at the toss, the Indian captain also announced that Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque will be making their international debut.
"We want to put pressure on their batters because it’s the first game, sometimes it’s very difficult to know what a good score is. Also, our team is very confident in chasing. Shreyanka and Saika are playing their first games today. We just want to continue playing good cricket at Mumbai."
