On Thursday, April 3, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thumped last year’s finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Following their comprehensive win, Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer, two of the top performers on the night, joined team mentor Dwayne Bravo to dance on the highly popular ‘Vartaman’ song on the field.

Notably, Venkatesh Iyer played a power-packed innings of 60 runs in 29 balls with seven fours and three sixes, sharing a crucial 91-run stand with Rinku Singh (32* of 17) for the fifth wicket, to help propel KKR to an above par total of 200 runs. Earlier in the innings, youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored a fifty, and had a partnership of 81 runs for the third wicket with captain Ajinkya Rahane, to help resurrect their innings after losing a couple of early wickets.

KKR registered their second win of IPL 2025 season at the expense of SRH

In the bowling side of things, KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora bowled an exceptional spell in the powerplay, dismissing the likes of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan cheaply before the spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine got on a roll. None of the batters of SRH showed real resistance with the bat as they were bundled out for 120 runs in 16.4 overs, to find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table.

Shortly after the conclusion of the match, the official X account of KKR shared the video of Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, and Dwayne Bravo celebrating the win over SRH in style on the field at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They were dancing to the tunes of a viral song called ‘Vartaman’ before the iconic step of Dwayne Bravo’s famous song ‘Champion’ came into the picture as well.

Moreover, KKR are slated to play their next match in the IPL 2025 season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday, April 8, in an afternoon fixture.
