On Thursday, the Indian cricket team met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Parliament House in Canberra, Australia. This meeting comes before the three-day practice match for the visitors against the Prime Minister's XI in the Australian capital on 30 November, ahead of the second India versus Australia Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series, which begins in Adelaide on December 6.
A video released on X (previously Twitter) shows Indian captain Rohit Sharma presenting his teammates to the Australian Prime Minister. During the introductions, Albanese briefly interacts with Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli. He congratulated Kohli, mentioning, 'Good time in Perth. Bloody hell, as if we weren't suffering enough at that point, that was just....On this, Virat replied,' We've always got to add our spice to it.''

PM Albanese's official Instagram handle also released photos of the meeting along with a greeting to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post read, 'Big challenge ahead for the PMs XI at Manuka Oval this week against an amazing Indian side. But as I said to PM @narendramodi, I’m backing the Aussies to get the job done.'
Great start for team India in Perth against Australia
India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the opening Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.
