On September 17, Sunday, after India won the Asia Cup 2023, the team was getting ready to depart from the Colombo hotel to the nearby airport, but when they boarded the bus, captain Rohit Sharma forgot to take the passport with him. In a hilarious moment caught on camera, the members of Team India poked fun at the 36-year-old, before one of the support staff members handed over the passport to him.

It is well documented that Rohit Sharma has a habit of forgetting important things on his travels, so this moment wasn’t a surprise for anyone, especially his Indian teammates. Earlier in the day, the Nagpur-born cricketer was more than aware of the job at hand at the R Premadasa Stadium, which was the reason why he captained Team India to a famous win in the Asia Cup 2023 final against the hosts Sri Lanka.

In 2017, Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, who was in a candid conversation with Gaurav Kapur on a YouTube show, talked about how Rohit Sharma is used to forgetting anything and everything, except his cricket kit. He was quoted as saying, “The number of things Rohit Sharma forgets, I have never seen anyone else being this forgetful. iPad, wallet, phone, not the small things, but things for daily use.”

“He (Rohit Sharma) has forgotten his passport two or three times. It was very hard to retrieve it,” Virat Kohli added. At the same time, he mentioned that the Indian opening batter doesn’t forget his cricket kit.

Moreover, the Asia Cup 2023 final was a one-sided match which India won by 10 wickets with 263 balls to spare. Mohammed Siraj picked up six wickets in the Sri Lanka innings, to bowl them for a low score of 50.
