India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 30 runs in the 20th over after hitting his first T20I century during the third T20I against Australia on November 28, Tuesday. With this, Gaikwad became the first Indian batter to hit a ton against Australia in the shortest format. India took on their Australian counterparts in the third match of the five-match series in Guwahati. Matthew Wade won the toss and opted to bowl first against the hosts.

India got off to a shaky start and lost opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan on low scores. However, Gaikwad stayed strong during crucial times and ended up scoring his first T20I in the match. Not only this, but he also hit 30 runs in the final over of India’s innings to take his side’s score to 222 runs with a loss of three wickets.

Gaikwad reached the milestone in just 52 deliveries and remained not out with impressive 123 runs in just 57 deliveries. The 26-year-old hit 13 boundaries and seven maximums in his knock. Talking about the series, India have won both matches and hence, led their counterparts 2-0.
