The American professional boxer Ryan Garcia has pulled out of the Devin Haney fight after taking swipes at him multiple times on social media in the past few weeks. The 25-year-old had a change of heart, not wanting to have a boxing match with Devin Haney any longer, instead challenging Rolly Romero for a bout in the summer.

The boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya had revealed during his interview on Friday, January 5, that Ryan Garcia had a strong desire to go head-to-head against Devin Haney. He had specially requested for the fight and wanted the finalisation of the official negotiations for the bout to happen in March of this year.

But shortly after, in a surprising turn of events, Ryan Garcia announced that he isn’t looking forward to having that fight and said, “Devin lost his shot. He thought it was Haney vs Garcia, he should've known it was Garcia vs Haney. He did 35,000 PPV buys.” The American also threw down the gauntlet to Rolly Romero, the WBA Super Lightweight Champion, for a potential boxing match in the month of May.
Ryan Garcia also sent out a post on X to double down on his intention to take on Rolly Romero, which didn’t please Devin Haney at all. He wrote, “I’ve notified my team I’m going a different route. My intent now is to fight Rolando Romero. I pray my team backs me on this decision. Oscar make this fight happen. THATS THE MOVE. BIGGER FIGHT, BIGGER BUSINESS. #GarciaRomero”.
