The Indian women’s team scripted history by defeating England to lift the maiden ICC Under 19 Women's T20 World Cup trophy in South Africa. Reacting to this magnanimous feat, Indian captain Shafali Verma was in tears as she collected her World Cup medal during the post-match presentation.
This win holds special importance for Verma as she was for the Indian team which lost in the final of the ICC Womens T20 World Cup in 2020 and the Commonwealth Games final against Australia. So as Verma was giving her post-match interview, she broke into tears of joy while praising her team for their brilliant display throughout the tournament.

Going back to her post-match interview, Shafali Verma thanked her teammates, the coaching staff for backing her as the captain throughout the World Cup. She also expressed gratitude towards the BCCI for their constant support. She said, “The way all the girls are performing and backing each other, so happy. “
“Incredible feeling. Thanks to the staff, the way they have been backing us every day and telling us that we are here for the cup and because of them we are here. All thanks to them. The players have been backing me a lot. Thanks to BCCI for giving me this beautiful team and really happy for winning the cup.”
Talking about the game, the Women in Blue registered a seven-wicket victory as they comfortably chased down the 69-run total. The star performer with the ball was Titas Sadhu, who won the Player of the match award for her spell of 2-6 in four overs.
