Indian all-rounder Shafali Verma managed to pull off a near-impossible as she picked up four wickets in the final over while defending 10 runs against Bangladesh. After a poor batting display, Team India only managed to set a 95-run target for the hosts. Then with the ball, the Indians started tightening the screws and picked up wickets at regular intervals.

Then as the match entered its climax, Bangladesh needed 10 runs in the 20th over where Shafali Verma stepped up. The Indian off-spinner had a long chat with Harmanpreet Kaur which seeming worked immediately as Verma managed to run Rabeya Khan out. The immediate next ball also saw a wicket as Nahida Akter hit the ball straight into the hands of Harleen Deol.
The third ball was a dot ball before Shafali Verma once again turned her golden arm to dismiss Fahima Khatun as she hit an easy catch straight back towards the bowler on the fourth delivery. The fifth ball was another dot and then Verma clinched the game as she produced the third wicket of her over by dismissing Marufa Akter.

Reacting to this stellar bowling effort and the series win, the Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised her bowlers throughout the series. She also heaped compliments on the team’s younger players, who took responsibility in tough moments. She said, “It is a part of the game, sometimes your plan does not work but in the second innings, we showed our character.”

“Got to give credit to all our bowlers, they were bowling under pressure but they did well and also the fielders. In this series, we have a couple of young bowlers who are gonna take the responsibility and it's important to show trust in them. We are not gonna hide them on the field. All of them took responsibility and did well,” she continued.
