Shawn Marion, the former Phoenix Suns forward, is the latest to get inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor on Friday, December 15. The induction ceremony happened during the Suns’ battle against the Knicks at the Footprint Center, which saw his No. 31 jersey being immortalised and will never be worn by anyone again.

As the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft in 1999, Shawn Marion, 45, became the mainstay of the Suns for eight and a half years of his career, becoming a four-time All-Star in the process. He was a part of the Phoenix Suns’ team which had stars like Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash, which saw them make the finals of the NBA Western Conference in 2005 and 2006.

During his illustrious run with the Phoenix Suns spanning from 1999-2008, Shawn Marion played 660 games in regular season, averaging 18.4 points, 10 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks. He scored 12,134 points for the Suns, ranking himself fifth in the history of the franchise.

After seeing his name getting immortalised at the Phoenix Suns, Shawn Marion gave his first reaction about how he felt about getting inducted into the Ring of Honor for the franchise. He was quoted as saying, “It's surreal right now. Everybody keeps asking me if I've cried or if I've got emotional yet, but I guess I got to wait and see when it actually goes up there. It's definitely sending chills through my body.”
