After putting 396 off 112 overs, the Men in Blue took the field taking charge of the ground at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. While Kuldeep Yadav, who came in place of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, drew the first blood in Ben Duckett, a brilliant piece of fielding from Shreyas Iyer helped India get their second wicket.

Axar Patel, who was bowling the 23rd over of the England inning with a set-batter in Zak Crawley in the middle, bowled a full delivery. Crawley tried to continue his offensive take and slogged it over. Iyer, who was stationed at the backward points, completed a brilliant running catch to dismiss Crawley at the score of 76.

Bumrah gets back-to-back wickets in two overs
While the English openers departed early with Zak Crawley looking dangerous in the middle, Jasprit Bumrah handed two more wickets in his back-to-back overs, putting India on top. In the 26th over, Bumrah got Joe Root for the eighth time in the Test with Shubman Gill completing a scintillating catch in slips, he then cleaned up Ollie Pope in the 28th over.
At the end of 28 overs, England were on the back foot with their scoreboard reading 136/4 with Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow taking the guards.
