In the build-up to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the captains Shreyas Iyer and Pat Cummins went to a beach in Chennai for a photo-op with the prestigious trophy. During their auto ride, Iyer took a dig at the salary of Cummins in the IPL 2024, hilariously asking him to pay ₹20 Crore as fare.
The final of the IPL 2024 will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where Kolkata Knight Riders won one of their two titles against Chennai Super Kings 12 years ago. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the IPL title once in 2016, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Prior to the IPL 2024 final, Shreyas Iyer and Pat Cummins met each other for the trophy photo-op at the beach in Chennai after taking an auto ride. When these two cricketers got into the auto, Shreyas Iyer said to Pat Cummins, “Price has come, 20 Cr!,” reminding him of his ₹20.75 Crore IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad, to which they had a decent laugh.
Iyer also asked Cummins, “Hey Pat! How comfortable are you?, to which he responded, “I’ve been more comfortable.”
During their IPL 2024 campaign, Shreyas Iyer has showcased his leadership skill to the fullest, playing a key role in helping Kolkata Knight Riders reach the final after losing just three matches out of 15. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins galvanised Sunrisers Hyderabad as captain, taking them to the summit clash of the league after they finished in the bottom of the points table last year.
