India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who had faced back spasms ahead of the Pakistan vs India Super Fours clash, didn’t show any discomfort in the team's training session. Iyer not only trained with the teammates and coaches, but also underwent stretching and jogging before undergoing batting practice in the nets. A new video surfacing on social media, the cricketer could be seen stretching, especially his back, and then doing batting practice.
In the video posted by ESPNcricinfo, the cricketer could be seen undergoing a stretching session with the trainer. Later, after a 15-minute jogging session, the 28-year-old cricketer did his batting practice. During the session, he faced some underarm throwdowns as well as fast-bowling throwdowns.

Not only this, but the cricketer also received some “well done, Shreyas!” from the batting coach Vikram Rathour. The cricketer was joined by teammates including the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, etc. Meanwhile, the Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey spent some time with Varma, who had a keen eye on the cricketer’s bowling.
After training, Mhambrey said about Varma, "We are looking to see if he plays and manages to get a chance to bowl even one over, we'll start from there. If we can look at that and gain confidence from his bowling, the captain will have an option. In case we need an extra spinner given the circumstances - based on conditions or opposition batters - especially if there are left-handers and you need an offspinner, we need an option to go to.”
Notably, India will lock horns with Bangladesh in the last Super Fours clash on September 15 in Colombo. The Men in Blue have already secured their berth in the finale of the Asia Cup 2023, where they will lock horns with the winners of the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Super Fours match on September 17, Sunday.
