Prior to the limited-overs series against India, the Sri Lankan team have started their preparation and were spotted sweating it out in the nets and fine-tuning their techniques. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) took to social media to share a video of their team's practice session post completing their quarantine after coming from the England tour.

While the India series was earlier scheduled to commence on July 13, as many as two COVID-19 positive cases in the Sri Lankan camp has forced the rescheduling of the series with the first ODI now set to be played on July 18.

An approximate 89.9 crore riding on the series for SLC

Earlier, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Shammi Silva, has gone on record saying that the board is expected to earn an approximate amount of $12 million for organising the three ODI and T20Is against India. This comes to be around 89.9 crore INR, a huge sum of money at a time when sporting bodies are struggling with their finances owing to the losses incurred during the pandemic.

"SLC will be able to provide a large income to the country with Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa’s vision of building a strong economy through Sports," Silva told dailynews.lk.

India's last tour of Sri Lanka dates back to 2017 where they managed a clean sweep across formats, winning the Test series 3-0, ODIs 5-0 as well as the solitary T20I. Shikhar Dhawan-led India will be hoping to replicate a similar result on this tour.
