Team India on Friday, November 15 completed a historic win against South Africa in the four-match series, clinching it by 3-1 margin. With the 135-run win over the Protea Men, Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India achieved their 100 per cent win record in T20Is and continued their domination in the shortest format of the game.

In the fourth T20I, which was played at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, apart from centuries from Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson, another heartfelt moment went viral, involving the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav. During South Africa’s run-chase of 284-run target in Johannesburg, SKY ran upto Ravi Bishnoi, who completed a brilliant catch to dismiss a Protean batter.

During the celebration, as he walked upto Bishnoi, SKY stepped on the India cap by mistake and on realisation quickly picked it up and kissed it out of respect in a heartfelt gesture before giving it to Rinku Singh. The video of this moment has been doing rounds on social media.

However the details of the incident are not much known, it could have either occurred in the third over of the second inning after Aiden Markram’s wicket, or after Ravi Bishnoi completed a catch of Andile Simelane off Varun Chakaravarthy’s over in the fourth T20I.

Records galore as India beat South Africa to clinch series 3-1

With Team India’s triumphant victory at The Wanderers, the Men in Blue achieved new records, courtesy centuries from Sanju Samson as well as Tilak Varma. During their 135-run win, Team India accumulated 23 sixes, securing the joint third-highest number of sixes in a T20I innings. Moreover, the pair stitched a 210-run partnership for the second wicket in 93 balls, marking the sixth highest partnership for any wicket in T20Is and the highest for second wicket.

Along with these, India also registered the third fastest 200 in T20I history as they crossed the 200-run mark in just 14.1 overs. Moreover, the 283/1 stands as India’s second highest in T20I following their 297, which came against Bangladesh. Sanju Samson, who is having a purple patch, achieved his third T20I century of 2024, becoming the fastest player to score three T20I centuries in a calendar year.
