The Rock, the former multi-time world champion and a Hollywood megastar, made his long-awaited return to the WWE in nearly four years to an electrifying crowd at the Ball Arena in Denver, during the latest edition of the Friday night SmackDown on September 15. The 51-year-old, who made his last appearance on WWE television in 2019, laid out the former United States champion Austin Theory, with an assist from Pat McAfee, the professional wrestler and a color commentator.

It was Pat McAfee, who opened the WWE SmackDown to the fans in his own unique style, before his former opponent from WrestleMania two years ago, Austin Theory interrupted him by making his way down to the ring. These two went back and forth before McAfee stated that Theory has been disrespectful to the wrestling business and the fans too.
Moments after Pat McAfee said to Austin Theory, “This is the people’s show and you know what that means?,” the music of The Rock hits to the instant cheers from the crowd at the Ball Arena in Denver. Not too long after “The Great One” made his way to the ring to electrify the fans, he was cut off by the former United States champion.

The Rock proceeded to call Austin Theory an a****** to his face, before rallying the crowd at the Ball Arena in Denver to do it too. It led to Theory going after Rock, but The Great One countered with a spinebuster and the people’s elbow, before making Pat McAfee deliver a people’s elbow of his own.
When Pat McAfee and The Rock were done recapping their opening segment of WWE SmackDown in the backstage area, a familiar gentleman made his way into the frame. John Cena squared up to The Rock, one of his greatest opponents in WWE, before welcoming him home with a handshake and a warm hug.
