The Ugandan men's cricket team created history as they completed qualification for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America. Uganda joins Namibia as one of the two teams from the African Qualifiers for the 20-team tournament starting on June 3.

Celebrating this magnanimous feat, the entire Ugandan team with the support staff came together for a dance led by the head coach. Coming back to Uganda's final qualifying fixture, the Cricket Cranes took down Rwanda in a dominant nine-wicket win.

Starting off with the ball, the Rwandan team lost their first wicket in the first over itself as Alpesh Ramjani castled opening batter Orchide Tuyisenge after just four balls. The dismissal opened up the floodgates for Uganda as Ramjani, Dinesh Nakrani, Henry Ssenyondo and captain Brian Masaba each picked up two wickets.

On the back of this clinical bowling effort, Uganda required 65 runs and comfortably chased down in 8.1 overs thanks to Simon Ssesazi's 26 in 21 balls and an eight-ball 13 for Roger Mukasa. With this triumph, the Cricket Cranes booked their first-ever appearance in an ICC World Cup event while being the fifth African nation to feature in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
