The tenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw the match take some unexpected turns at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. While Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the toss and invited the home side to put the score first on the board. 

With some early runs from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell’s wicket turned the match. During one of the strategic time-out sessions, former India cricketer and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir shared a wholesome moment with Indian and RCB star batter Virat Kohli. The duo, who were part of some massive brawl last season during the IPL, shared a hug and smile in the middle, giving a shock wave among the fans.

With this, all things seemed to look well between the two Indian stars. The incident took place after the 16th over of the RCB inning when the umpire signaled a strategic time-out. Elaborating the moment, Gambhir walked down to Kohli as the duo hugged each other and shared a few words.

Notably, it was the first time since the infamous night in Lucknow in 2023 that the two came face-to-face on the field.

Moreover, Virat Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 59 deliveries, consisted of four boundaries and as many maximums. During his 59-ball stay in the middle, Kohli overtook Chris Gayle to top the list of hitting most sixes for RCB in IPL history.
