After the Indian cricket team won the T20I series against Afghanistan by 3-0, the fielding coach T Dilip announced Virat Kohli as the winner of the “Best Fielder” award for his inspiring performances in the field. Notably, the 35-year-old had made his return to the Indian T20I setup against Afghanistan just a few months before the T20 World Cup 2024.

The best of Virat Kohli on the field was on full display during the third and final T20I at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. When Afghanistan had found themselves in a decent position during their pursuit of the 213-run target, Karim Janat smashed Washington Sundar off the backfoot towards the long-on region where Virat Kohli leapt high in the air near the boundary rope to save a certain six.

In the penultimate over of the Afghanistan innings, Virat Kohli ran 25-30 yards from the wide long-off region to complete the catch of Najibullah Zadran off the bowling of Avesh Khan to put India in the box seat. However, it needed two super overs for the Indian cricket team to defeat the Afghans to complete a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series.
