Switzerland midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri proved that he is not the man to trash talk with as he humiliated Minnesota United goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair during Chicago Fire's Leagues Cup victory on Thursday night. Shaqiri fired the equalizer from the spot after the Minnesota goalkeeper tried to get into the former Liverpool star's head.
On July 28, Minnesota and Chicago faced each other at the Allianz Field in their Group E fixture as the visitors won the match to claim the first spot in the group. Minnesota forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored a brace, however, Chicago's team effort helped them get past the hosts.
Just before the 70-minute mark on the clock, the Fire received a spot kick and Shaqiri looked all set to take the penalty. However, Minnesota goalkeeper Dayne trash-talked with the two-time UCL winner ahead of the kick and yelled, "You have no balls." The 31-year-old kept his calm and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way with his spot kick and gave a death stare to the 26-year-old keeper.

Seven minutes after Minnesota took the lead in the second half, Shaqiri scored the equalizer from the spot. However, Minnesota's Hlongwane produced another goal to help his side take the lead. But the hosts were unable to maintain their lead as Chicago defender Arnaud Souquet leveled the score in the 79th minute while forward Kei Kamara scored the winner in the last 10 minutes of the game.
In the Leagues Cup, Chicago will next face Club Puebla on Monday, July 31 at the SeatGeek Stadium and will look forward to winning the game to qualify for the knockout stages.
