NBA star Jimmy Butler, who made his debut as a ball boy in the US Open 2023 on Wednesday, August 23, ‘defeated’ Carlos Alcaraz. The Miami Heat star took down the World Number 1 tennis player and US Open Champion while they jokingly played a point. The incident took place when World Number 1 Alcaraz was taking on World Number 10 Frances Tiafoe, where Butler was serving as a ball boy.

Messi assists twice and converts penalty to take Inter Miami to the US Open Cup final

Football great and Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi assisted twice and converted a penalty kick to lead his side to the U.S. Open Cup final. Riding on Messi’s heroics, Miami took down MLS-leading Cincinnati 5-4 in penalties in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal on August 23, Wednesday. The game started with Cincinnati taking an early lead 2-0 before Messi assisted two goals to Leonardo Campana. 

With it, the score between both the teams reached 2-2. However, soon after it, Josef Martínez scored three minutes into the first extra period, only to get the score tied after Yuya Kubo’s 114th-minute goal. In the penalty shootout, Messi made the first attempt, and after four perfect rounds, Benjamin Cremaschi made his penalty kick and led his side to the win. 

Magnus Carlsen defeats R Praggnanandhaa to win FIDE World Cup 2023

The world's number one chess player, Magnus Carlsen from Norway, defeated one of the youngest grandmasters in the history of chess, R Praggnanandhaa from India, to win the FIDE World Cup 2023 trophy, in Baku, Azerbaijan. The 32-year-old clinched the tournament for the first time in his career with the score of 3-1 in the tiebreaker on August 24, Thursday.
