Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli gave a ray of hope to his fans after he almost confirmed that he will be available to play the 2027 ODI World Cup. Notably, there has been a lots of debate about whether Kohli will play till the next World Cup or not there are also concerns regarding his future in Indian team. However, the 36-year-old shut all the rumours after he said that his next ‘big step is to win the 2027 World Cup.

In a viral video, which seems to be from some event, the anchor asked Virat Kohli, “Any hints about the next big step.” After this, Kohli replied “Maybe, try to win the next World Cup.” Notably, Virat Kohli was a part of the Indian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2011. Apart from that, he also won the Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2024. He is currently retired from the T20I format after 2024 World Cup win but continues to play Tests and ODIs for India.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli set to retain A+ grade category in BCCI annual contract

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to retain their A+ category as BCCI will announce the central contract list for 2025-26 soon. Earlier, there were rumours that both the seniors can be demoted to A category as both of them have retired from the T20I format. Now, the reports suggest that both Rohit and Kohli are likely to be at the A+ category.

 

Apart from that, Shreyas Iyer, who was removed from the central contract last year, is set to make his return in the annual contracts list for the upcoming year. "Rohit and Virat will continue their A+ grade central contract (7 crore) even after retiring from T20I format. They are big players and will be accorded the respect they deserve. Shreyas Iyer is all set to be back in central contract," BCCI source was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
