In the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Super Giants came off with their second victory of this IPL campaign after defeating MI by 12 runs. The first innings saw LSG put up a total of 203 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs. LSG's opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram put up a solid partnership of 76 runs for the first wicket. Although hard-hitters like Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant were neutralized by MI skipper Hardik Pandya, who also picked up a fifer in this match, the Lucknow franchise were still able to put up a big score on the board.
In the second innings, LSG picked up two early wickets after restricting MI to 17/2 in the first three overs. Middle-order batters Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir went on to stitch a 69-run partnership for the third wicket before Dhir walked out for 46 runs. Late cameos of 25 and 28 runs from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya respectively were not enough for Mumbai Indians as they lost their third match of the 2025 season.
