Team India continued their winning run in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 with an eight-wicket win over Afghanistan and are placed second just behind toppers New Zealand, who have a better net run rate. Apart from that, New Zealand received a major boost from Kane Williamson, who is gearing up for a comeback.

While Australia lost their World Cup opener against hosts India, South Africa broke records on their way to victory against Sri Lanka in their opener. Australia and South Africa are now scheduled to square off against each other on Thursday at the Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow at 02:00 p.m. IST. Both teams will look to win the match to bolster their chances of progressing comfortably in the tournament.

In their second clash of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the hosts for the season, India locked horns with Afghanistan on October 11, Wednesday. In the match that was highly anticipated due to the famous rivalry between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq, Shahidi, and Co. posted a score of 272 runs with a loss of eight wickets as Jasprit Bumrah picked up four wickets. In response, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored his 31st ODI and seventh World Cup century before leaving at 131 runs off 84 runs.  The iconic batter Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten at 55 off 56 balls and 25 runs off 23 balls respectively, to give the Indian side their second consecutive win

Indian batter Virat Kohli shared a heart-warming moment with Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq after their verbal spat in the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. Playing at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi, the Men in Blue got off to an express start as they chased 273 with Rohit Sharma taking charge. Putting an end to their spat, Naveen and Virat were spotted exchanging pleasantries. Duo shared a hug and then a pat on the back as both had a lovely smile.

Asian Games gold medalist Team India gift signed bat and jersey to PM Modi

The Indian men’s cricket team earned laurels at the recently concluded Asian Games 2023. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side, who began their campaign in the quarterfinals owing to their higher rank in the ICC Rankings, made their way into the final, beating Nepal and Bangladesh before going past Afghanistan in the final after the match was abandoned with rain playing a spoilsport. In an interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Gaikwad-led side gifted the Indian PM a signed bat and Indian jersey.

Bangladesh fined for maintaining slow over-rate against England

Bangladesh have been fined 5 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in a league match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup on Tuesday, 10 October 2023.  Javagal Srinath of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Shakib Al Hasan’s side was ruled to be 1 over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

Shubman Gill to travel to Ahmedabad, continues his recovery from dengue

In-form India youngster, Shubman Gill, who is currently recovering from dengue, travelled to Ahmedabad from Chennai on Wednesday, October 11 to continue his recovery. A BCCI official told PTI that the 24-year-old's recovery is going fine, however, Gill could miss the high-voltage clash against Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Kane Williamson, Tim Southee likely to feature in World Cup clash against Bangladesh

After missing New Zealand's opening two World Cup matches, skipper Kane Williamson, who suffered an ACL tear in the IPL this year, and Tim Southee, who fractured his right thumb, could potentially make a comeback in the Blackcaps' squad for their upcoming clash against Bangladesh on Friday. Head coach Gary Stead said, "We've got two more trainings still to get through but at this stage, all things are looking good for Kane to return in this game." He added, "Tim will be available for selection, he's been tracking well. Looks like the thumb has set very very well."
