Star Indian batter, Virat Kohli recently returned to action as Team India is hosting Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. However, the 35-year-old did not have an outing to remember in the first Test as he got out after registering scores of six and 17 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai after making a return since the South Africa Test series.
Seeing his return in red-ball cricket, the Indian cricketer also featured in the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The Indian quiz show, which is hosted by Bollywood celebrity, Amitabh Bachchan, is undoubtedly one of the most popular TV shows. The show has turned many lives in the past few years by allowing them to earn money by answering a few questions.
In the recent episode of KBC 16, Amitabh Bachchan had Akash Kumar Sharma, a head Constable in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police as a contestant. Just at the start of the show, the question which flashed the screens had star Indian batter, Virat Kohli featured in it along with veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav.
The contestant was asked a simple question which read, “Who among these announced his retirement from T20 internationals after the 2024 T20 World Cup?” However, the contestant seemed well aware of the answer as he quickly responded with option C which had Kohli. It is to be noted that Kohli’s fan following not only limits inside the nation boundaries, but is widely recognised across borders too.
Kane Williamson overtakes Virat Kohli’s Test run tally
With the India versus Bangladesh second Test receiving a massive blow with rain playing a spoilsport on Day 1 and wet outfield forbidding play on Day 2 and early on Day 3, Virat Kohli has also seen a drop when we talk about the Fab Fours. With Kohli’s poor run of form on home turf which included his scores of six and 17 in the first Test, on Saturday, Kane Williamson also surpassed him in Test run tally.
The former New Zealand captain bounced back from his 53-ball seven in the first innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka to score a fighting 46 to go past Kohli. The Indian batter now sits at the bottom of the Fab Four with 8871 runs with Williamson now having 8881 runs in 13 fewer Tests than Kohli.
