Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants bid goodbye to their mentor Gautam Gambhir on November 22. With Gambhir leaving, the KL Rahul-led franchise is looking for a name who can be their mentor for the 2024 season of the league-based tournament. One name is likely to replace Gambhir as their new mentor is former India cricketer and head coach Rahul Dravid.
As per reports, Dravid is in talks with the IPL franchise and if things go right, he can join them as their mentor for the forthcoming season. Dravid’s two-year contract with the Indian cricket team came to an end with India’s loss in the ODI World Cup 2023. Not only this, but he is also not keen on extending his contract with the Indian team and could join LSG.
As per a report by Dainik Jagaran, Dravid has offers from LSG and his former franchise Rajasthan Royals, but the former franchise is offering him a lucrative offer. That is why there is a higher chance of the legendary cricketer joining the Lucknow-based franchise. Notably, LSG appointed former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir as a mentor and Andy Flower as head coach in 2022.
After serving for two seasons, both Gambhir and Flower have joined other teams. While the Indian cricketer joined Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor, Flower has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as their head coach. LSG has appointed former Australian head coach Justin Langer as Flower’s replacement.
