The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday named a 16-member squad for the ODI series against South Africa. As reported earlier, Shikhar Dhawan will lead the side in the three-match ODI series, starting October. But there were a few surprises in the squad, one being Rajat Patidar and the other being Mukesh Kumar.
While Rajat Patidar is no new name to the ears, Mukesh Kumar seems to be a eye opening entry in the squad. The 28-year-old pacer is currently playing in the Irani Trophy 2022 and is representing Rest of India against Saurashtra. He was last seen playing for India A against New Zealand A last month.
