The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India Women are taking on South Africa Women in the third and final ODI match of the three-match series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match seems to be a dead rubber, as the hosts have already clinched the series after winning the first two ODIs, while South Africa will eye to get a consolation in.
On Sunday, June 23 as the two sides took the field, the Women in Blue were seen wearing black armbands. This gesture by the side comes in memory of the late Indian pacer David Johnson. Earlier in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 clash against Afghanistan, the Rohit Sharma-led side also donned black armbands to honour the former cricketer.
The official handle of the BCCI Women also took to X to inform about this gesture. “Team India is wearing black armbands today in the third and final ODI against South Africa, in memory of former Indian fast bowler David Johnson, who passed away on Thursday,” they wrote.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian Women named two changes at the toss in their Playing XI. Shreyanka Patil and Priya Punia replaced Asha Sobhana and Dayalan Hemalatha in the side ahead of the third ODI.
