The  Rohit Sharma -led Team India added 259-run lead on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. But to everyone’s surprise, the Indian skipper did not take the field with the Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah taking the charge in the middle.

However, soon after the teams began the proceedings on Day 3, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X to share an update on Rohit Sharma’s absence. “UPDATE: Captain Rohit Sharma has not taken the field on Day 3 due to a stiff back.” However, it is to be added that the extent of Rohit Sharma’s injury is currently unknown.

Talking about the 36-year-old, Sharma with 400 runs in five Tests, has been India’s fourth highest run-scorer in the series. He added two centuries and a half-century to his name in the five-match Test series.

Speaking of the series, however, it stands in India’s pocket, having won three Tests on the trot after losing the opening Test by 28 runs. With England trailing by more than 50 runs at the moment on Day 3 of the fifth Test, the hosts need just a couple of wickets to win the series 4-1.
