The Shubman Gill-led Team India are coming into this series after being crowned the T20 World Champions. The Men in Blue are taking on Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series. While they lost the opening T20I by 13 runs, they came back from behind to take a 2-1 lead in the series and will aim to clinch it with a win in the fourth T20I.
The fourth T20I of the series is being played at the Harare Sport Club in Harare, Zimbabwe, the same venue which has hosted the previous three T20Is. While the Men in Blue will aim to close the series with a win, the Sikandar Raza-led side will eye to level it, taking the series into the decider.
But as the two captains took the field, Gill once again triumphed over Raza, making it four toss wins in a row. After winning the toss, Gill invited the hosts to bat first while announcing changes in their side. Gill revealed that Tushar Deshpande makes his debut, while Avesh Khan sits out. “We’ll bowl first. Looks like a fresh wicket. Hopefully there’s going to be something in it for the fast bowlers. The death bowling is where we can improve. We got a little complacent (in the previous match). Tushar Deshpande makes his debut in place of Avesh Khan,” Gill said.
Furthermore, speaking ahead of the match, Deshpande opened up on debuting for India. During his conversation with Abhinav Mukund, Deshpande said, “Very happy to be here. It all goes back to my childhood days when I dreamt of playing for my country. Being here wearing the blue feels very proud. Means a lot to me. The atmosphere is really great here.”
