The best news for Arsenal fans as the Premier League season is set to begin after the international break is the return of Bukayo Saka. Saka, who had picked up a hamstring injury in December 2024, was out for almost 100 days. Being one of Arsenal’s best attacking players in recent seasons, his absence was definitely felt by the fans and team alike. Before getting injured, Saka had played 24 games for the Gunners and had a 23G/A in these games showcasing his sheer quality. While Arsenal set to take on Fulham on April 2 in the PL, it is now understood that Saka might be part of the starting XI in that match.
Mikel Arteta spoke to the press before his team’s fixture against Arsenal, where he spoke about Saka’s return. When asked about whether fans can expect the winger to hit the ground running immediately, he said, “He (Bukayo Saka) can already start against Fulham, yes.. we will see tomorrow.” He added by saying, “It’s about putting him on the grass in the right moment. He’s pushing, He really wants it.” After being out for more than 3 months, Arteta would likely be careful in utilizing Saka on the pitch.
Preview of upcoming Arsenal vs Fulham fixture
Arsenal will host Fulham in a Premier League London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The Gunners aim to close the gap to league leaders Liverpool, while Fulham seeks to rebound from their recent FA Cup exit and strengthen their push for European qualification.
For Arsenal, defender Riccardo Calafiori sustained a knee injury during international duty and will be unavailable. Jurrien Timber is recovering from illness and may be in contention soon. On the other hand, the Cottagers will be without Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson, forward Harry Wilson, and right-back Kenny Tete due to long-term injuries.
