In a major development from the world of cricket, Yash Dhull, the former India U-19 captain, underwent surgery for a hole in heart recently. The congenital heart condition of Yash Dhull got spotted during a routine check-up at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru a couple of months ago before the surgical procedure was executed in Delhi.
As per the report from News18, Yash Dhull, who led India to a U-19 Cricket World Cup 2022 win, received a fitness certificate from the NCA after rehabilitating from the heart surgery. Since then, he made his return to cricket during the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 as the captain of Central Delhi Kings before giving the reigns to Jonty Sidhu.
The performances with the bat from Yash Dhull haven’t been up to his usual standards, showcasing the difficult nature of recovery from such a condition.
The hole in the heart was a condition from birth: Yash Dhull's father remarks
Pradeep Kochar, the childhood coach of Yash Dhull, addressed the matter, and said, “During the NCA check-up, the team, after consulting with a set of doctors, advised him to undergo surgery for the hole in his heart. He was attending a camp with the rest of the emerging players a couple of months back in Bengaluru. The surgery went well, and Yash has been on a steady path to recovery.”
The father of Yash Dhull, Vijay, remarked that his heart condition was congenital and it required surgery, and said, “It wasn’t anything serious. The hole in the heart was a condition from birth, and the NCA team advised a minor surgical procedure. He underwent that in Delhi, and the BCCI continued to keep a check on him during the period.”
