Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opening batter, has reportedly been ruled out of Mumbai's upcoming Ranji semi-final against Vidarbha, which will begin on Monday, February 16. It is understood that the 23-year-old complained of ankle pain earlier this morning in a practice session at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur, a day before the big clash, and as per the sources, he is expected to travel to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru tomorrow to start his recovery.

Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently a “non-travelling reserve” of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but if his ankle issue turns out to be serious, then the BCCI might not have any choice, but to announce his replacement. As far as Mumbai are concerned, since the left-handed batter was one of the 18 members of their Ranji Trophy semi-final squad, they might not announce his replacement with just a day remaining until the beginning of the big contest.

It is an old injury which has recurred for Yashasvi Jaiswal: Sources

As per the report published in the Times of India, a source was quoted as saying about the latest in regards to Yashasvi Jaiswal, “Jaiswal has been ruled out of the Ranji Trophy semifinals clash as he is suffering from a left ankle pain. He fielded in Mumbai's practice session today at Nagpur, but looked uncomfortable while batting in the nets. It is an old injury which has recurred. He has to leave for the BCCI's Centre of Excellence tomorrow to start his recovery process.”

Mumbai, captained by Indian international Ajinkya Rahane, has a whole host of big players in their squad, who can probably take the responsibility to secure a place in the final for the team in the Ranji Trophy this season. The upcoming fixture is a repeat of the final of the tournament last season, in which Mumbai came out victorious against Vidarbha.

Below is the updated Mumbai’s squad for Ranji Trophy semi-final against Vidarbha:

Ajinkya Rahane (c), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Amogh Bhatkal, Suryakumar Yadav, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dube, Akash Anand (wk), Hardik Tamore (wk), Suryansh Shedge, Shardul Thakur, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester D'Souza, Royston Dias, Atharva Ankolekar, Harsh Tanna.
